People who are taking medications that increase the sensitivity of their skin or eyes should not use red light therapy, as should people who have a history of skin cancer, epilepsy, or eye disease. Talk to your doctor before using red light therapy. Red light therapy may cause burns or blisters if used for more than 20 minutes. The recommended treatment time is 15 minutes. For visible results, it is necessary to attend 2-3 appointments per week for the first month or two.
